As humans have built their own jungles out of concrete and steel, one species of animal has been endured this change. I am talking about the Birds. Birds’ habitat our cities and give them a touch of unadulterated nature.

Urban Photography heavily features birds in various ways. As these are one of the most common and visible animals you can find in large urban centers. So let us take a look at some of the most common birds you can find in a city.
5. Crows/Ravens

While crows and ravens are technically different species of birds, but they are related and often confused for each other, so they are grouped together here. Crows are simply a common sight almost globally in urban and rural areas of the world.

Crows usually have more greyish feather coats while ravens are known to have a more jet blackish coat. In lots of cultures crows and ravens are associated with bad omens, so people don’t really like them. Nonetheless, crows are a staple part of urban life.
4. Sparrows

Sparrows are another common bird that you can find around the cities. These small birds are cute sight and you can see them around during the day. The best part about sparrows is that they don’t need a lot of space to nest. So they even end up making nests on buildings.

A fun fact about sparrows is that in Greek mythology they are considered a symbol of love. If you want to capture sparrows the best time is during the morning when they are most active.
3. Parrots

While parrots can come in a range of different colors and coats, the most common color you will see on a parrot is the iconic green. A lot of people like to keep parrots as pets and teach them how to speak.

Parrots are mostly native to cities in warmer regions of the world. So think of places like Australia, Central America, and South Asia.
2. Songbirds

Songbirds are not a specific species of birds but rather a classification that includes a wide range of small birds like robins and mockingbirds. In fact, this classification is so huge by most estimates there are about 4000 species of Songbirds.

From the name you can tell most songbirds are known for their high melodious singing voice. This is because most songbirds have highly developed vocal organs. Having said that, not all songbirds have a melodious voice, but most do. Songbirds are a common sight in urban areas, blessing us with their songs.
1. Doves/Pigeons

Just like the Crows and Ravens in the start, Doves and Pigeons are two different types of birds but are often confused for each other. These are the most common sight of animals you will see in a city. In fact, it is not uncommon to show people always feeding Doves or Pigeons in parks or near fountains in the cities.
