Different types of phone holders

Phone holders come in different shapes and sizes. This is because they serve different uses. Some phone holders like long selfie sticks, as the name suggests, are used to take selfies. While Gorilla pods can be used as tripods or phone holders that you can wrap around objects.

Phone holders are particularly helpful for urban photography. Especially in phone photography like time lapses where you need the phone to be still for a long time. In this article let’s go through some of the most common types of phone holders. They can be tripod, bipod, or monopod in design, but they are all useful for one thing: holding your phone.

4. Tripod

The most basic of the phone holders, a simple tripod. But just because these accessories aren’t as exciting as the others don’t mean it is not useful. Tripods can be used in a variety of ways. Need to take a group photo but there is no one to take your picture. Just place the phone in the holder and either uses a timer or a Bluetooth remote shutter device to take the picture.

Tripods aren’t just helpful to take pictures without a person holding a phone. They are also useful in pictures that require your phone to be static for long periods. For example, a long exposure picture is only successful if the phone is static for the duration of the picture. A Tripod is an excellent choice when the alternative is a shaky hand.

3. Smartphone mounts for vehicles

Phone mounts for bikes and cars are more about utility than photography. But that doesn’t mean you can’t use them to record videos or pictures as you drive around.

You just have to set your phone mount right and then you can use it as a makeshift dashcam. There are phone mounts for the car that have suction pads on the other end, so you can stick them directly on your windscreen for a direct view of the front. You can use it to drive and record stunning videos.

2. Gorilla Tripod

Gorilla Tripods are an amazing type of trend that has become popular among photographers and content creators in the past few years. A gorilla tripod is similar to a regular tripod, but its legs are more flexible. That means you can use the tripod in more flexible ways.

You can even wrap Gorilla tripods around things like poles and railings to set the phone camera different and creative angles.

1. Selfie Stick

The selfie stick is the holy grail of phone holders. Most selfie sticks have a phone holding section at one end and a gripping part at the other. Selfie sticks can extend and collapse, so they are more portable.

Selfie sticks vary greatly. Some use Bluetooth to trigger pictures, others need you to plug your phone into the stick. There are even 3 in 1 selfie sticks that can also be used like tripods. Selfie sticks are very simple devices by themselves but can greatly enhance your creative freedom while taking pictures.
