Things you need for night photography

Taking photographs in low light conditions is fun but at the same time challenging. That shouldn’t stop you from becoming the nocturnal photography king and queen you were meant to be though.

1. Tripod

Taking photographs in the low light condition is challenging, well because there is a lot less light illuminating all the objects in the environment. One way you can overcome this is by using night photography mode on your smartphone.
This optimizes the camera settings for night conditions like increasing camera shutter time. This allows your camera lens to capture more light over a longer period of time. The result is a more definite picture. 

​But the drawback of doing this is that any little movement of the smartphone can make the picture all blurry. This is why you need a tripod, so you can hold the smartphone still while taking pictures. Even the shaking of the hands is enough to ruin your experience. So remember to pack a small tripod when heading out for your next nighttime photography session.

2. Remote shutter release
 
Remote shutter releases are pretty helpful little things. They allow you to take pictures from your smartphone, even when you are not physically close to the smartphone.  

​You can combine a remote shutter release with a tripod and take amazing pictures with your smartphone. You can get them for pretty cheap, which use Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone.

3. Lens Hood
 
Lens hood is very important if you are shooting pictures during the night. This is because in nighttime photography, most of the time you have to deal with harsh lights coming from different directions. This can cause unnecessary lens flare and ruin your pictures.
